About Morse Code
Morse code is a method of encoding text characters using sequences of dots and dashes. Developed in the 1830s by Samuel Morse, it was originally used for telegraph communication and is still used today in amateur radio and emergency signaling.
How It Works
- Each letter, number, and punctuation mark has a unique pattern
- Dots (.) are short signals, dashes (-) are long signals
- Spaces separate letters, slashes (/) separate words
- International Morse Code is the standard used worldwide
Famous Morse Code Signals
- SOS: ... --- ... (international distress signal)
- CQ: -.-. --.- (general call to all stations)
